For most of my life, I struggled with a severe needle phobia. Every blood test or vaccine ended the same way: I would faint. My fear of needles wasn't "just nerves" — it was vasovagal syncope, a physical response that felt completely out of my control.
After years of avoiding medical procedures, I decided to take control. I began gradual exposure therapy using images and videos, and also discovered a powerful technique called applied tension to prevent fainting — but finding clear, step-by-step guidance was surprisingly difficult. Most therapists I spoke to had never heard of it, and common advice like mindfulness didn't help in my case.
Through consistent exposure, applied tension, and a few key habits, I retrained my body's response. Now I can go through medical procedures without fainting — and with much more confidence.
That journey inspired me to create Vasowin — a calm, science-backed platform that guides people to overcome fear of needles, injections, and blood using exposure therapy, applied tension, and evidence-based tools.
